Selective Schools Expansion Fund
The Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) announced £50million pot of funds available to support expansion of existing selective maintained schools. Firstly you'll need to demonstrate a need for additional places in the local area, and a demand from parents for more selective places. Secondly, Schools have ambitious and considered plans for increasing access for disadvantaged pupils eligible for the pupil premium, by working with other local schools to achieve this. The funding is available to school to create additional places where they are needed, to enable an increase in it's published adminstrative numbers (PAN). Read full story »

Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) for Expansion Projects Announced
A small proportion of CIF Funding will fund expansion projects to address overcrowding or for additional places for academies and sixth-form colleges. Only those with an Ofsted rating of Excellent or Good and that can prove an urgent need to expand thier exisiting facilities and/or floor space to address overcrowding or increase the number of admissions are eligible. It's expected that applications for expansion projects will be heavily oversubscribed - so it's imperative applicants make a comprehensive application to be considered. Read full story »
Finding and funding new classroom solutions - quickly!
The Education Secretary has recently shaken up the schools funding formula. However schools remain hard-pressed in making budgets stretch to deliver quality education and facilities for our children. So cost is always one of the key issues. When researching new captial build projects - a modular and sustainable classroom certainly needs considering. It's a quick to build affordable solution - that's cheaper to build than a traditional brick building solution, whilst being of better quality and offering greater flexibility to traditional mobile solutions. The biggest challenge for this project facing eco-classrooms was to delvier and build the modular classroom we required over the six- week window of the summer holidays - it's a logistical nightmare for all schools.
